“First Sundays” Jazz Brunch Series - George Kane Duo

“First Sundays” Jazz Brunch Series is BACK for it’s third season at Symposium! Our second Jazz brunch welcomes the George Kane Duo, featuring George on trumpet with Wayne Moose on acoustic bass.

George Kane has been a well-established jazz guitarist in the Western New York area for the past thirty years. He regularly performs with the area’s finest musicians in various venues and styles. A graduate of Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, George studied with William Leavitt, Guitar Department Chair and author of A Modern Method for Guitar. In addition to performing, George operates a private teaching practice.

Wayne Moose is a jazz double bassist based in Buffalo/Niagara, active as a performer and music teacher for over 20 years. He’s known locally as a fixture in the Buffalo jazz community, performing regularly with ensembles including his own groups and collaborations with other respected area jazz artists such as Devin Kelly, George Kane, Tim Clarke, and vocalist Cindy Miller. Wayne has served as a host of weekly jazz sessions featuring local and visiting musicians at venues like Mezza Restaurant on Elmwood Avenue, helping bring live jazz to Buffalo audiences. He leads and performs with ensembles such as the Wayne Moose Quartet, playing jazz standards from the Great American Songbook and bossa nova/samba repertoire at community events and museum series like those at the Buffalo AKG Art Museum.
